Melatonin Increases Efficacy Of Antihelicobacter Therapy
Content: “Due to the discovery of anti-helicobacter property in melatonin it is strongly suggested to include melatonin containing medicine – Melaxen – in the eradication therapy”. [N. Malinovskaia. et al. (2007). “Practical gastroenterology”. 74].

A positive effect of using melatonin for stomach ulcer and duodenal ulcer treatment, associated with the H. pylori infection, was shown in another research. The reason of such reaction is likely to be connected with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of melatonin. Therefore, the practical usage of melatonin is possible not only for sleep disorders, but also for mucosal lesion of gastrointestinal tract.

Conclusion: So, should doctors prescribe medicine that has melatonin in it to everyone when treating H. pylori? It is not quite so in practical terms. However, adding melatonin to the main treatment course is recommended to people having trouble sleeping, insomnia or mood swings.
