Content: Helicobacter pylori eradication is highly recommended in the following cases: if you have faced a stomach ulcer, a duodenal ulcer, or an atrophic gastritis; if you have undergone any surgery on your stomach; if you continuously take NSAIDs (pain reliever); if you have a relative who suffered from stomach cancer. Patient initiated treatment is acceptable when suffering from dyspepsia (epigastric pain, abdominal fullness and satiety).
Conclusion: Infection with H. pylori is a major cause of stomach cancer. Eradication therapy focuses on a total elimination of H. pylori infection, a main cause of chronic gastritis, ulcer, stomach cancer and some other diseases. This helps to prevent relapse of the disease and its complications.
